Do you want to get out there in the community to volunteer? Service Saturdays are perfect for those looking to get their feet wet with volunteerism! It’s a chance for those looking for the right fit for a more committed volunteer placement, those interested in nonprofit work as a career, or simply those who want to socialize and give back at the same time! Service Saturdays is great opportunity for students to get involved and network with local nonprofits without an upfront commitment. It is also a great way for students to network with other students interested in the same activities.
Each month, the Office for Civic Engagement offers two to three service projects at different nonprofits here in Missoula and students can RSVP for the opportunities that interest them and then spend a half-day volunteering with other students who share that interest. Missoula has a plethora of nonprofits doing incredible work and Service Saturdays are a great way to explore and experience these organizations.
Some examples of previous projects includes raking leaves for the elderly with Missoula Aging Services, walking dogs and playing with cats at Missoula Animal Control, cooking and serving a meal at the Ronald McDonald House, harvesting vegetables and weeding with Garden City Harvest, and many more!
